THIS brilliant jockeys’ space hopper contest descended into chaos with falls, kicks and calls for the race to be voided!
Some 11 riders lined up at the start at Plumpton for their traditional charity run.
The bonkers spectacle has been going for years and is held in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund.
But while it’s for a good cause there is no let up in the jockeys’ competitive spirit – or their desire to get an edge, as this video shows.
One jockey took a tumble before hoofing his space hopper at a rival.
Two others went rolling on the floor before an out-of-breath-looking Harry Bannister celebrated the win.
Although, commentating on Sky Sports Racing, Alex Hammond thought all the competitors were guilty of a false start.
She joked: “I wonder if they’ll void the race because those space hoppers have gone flying! Loose space hopper alert!
“I don’t know if there’s a stewards’ enquiry… let’s have a look at the start again.
“Watch the starter’s right hand… it drops… no. I reckon the stalls broke early.
“I reckon they all were violating the rules there!
“I reckon they’ll all get called in front of the stewards and they all get banned for days.”
